Brickwork, Home Farm

I made these photographs at my parents’ old Victorian farm shortly before they retired and moved away. Working close to the walls with a DSLR, I focused on fragments of weathered brick, eroded mortar and moss growth, treating the surfaces as sites of micro-archaeology rather than architectural structures. Using natural light and slow, careful framing, I avoided wide views in favour of details that compress labour, weather and time into small areas of texture. The process felt like fieldwork, moving steadily along the walls and following cracks and repairs as traces of use and change. In this way, the photographs operate psychogeographically, recording not just material decay but my own shifting relationship to a place in transition.
