The Gaffa Tapes #2: Here it is – the second instalment of The Gaffa Tapes. I am almost getting to sound like the “wall of sound” I was intending … well, it is in parts of it. I recorded this up at Creao Studio in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. The studio is just up the top of my road and allows me to make all the noise I need to in a cork-lined room. Allan has been hosting recording sessions there for years (10+ ?) and is an obliging host.
Plenty more saturation and crackling-pop, although I have removed the ‘hiss’.
This is a bit more of a growler of a mix – the music is pleasant enough. There are some favourites that I air on The Parish News, every once in a while. It is just a bit rougher around the edges – you will notice that I need to keep an eye on my levels in order to improve future mixes.
Tonight, I recorded The Gaffa Tapes #2, but I will be back at it after a sleep to make The Parish News – tomorrow, Wednesday.
