I played a small part in RADIOPHRENIA 2020. I am over the moon and now I can tell you about it without getting pulled from the airwaves. First I will tell you a bit about what RADIOPHRENIA is and then you can listen to the piece!

radiophrenia 2020

Radiophrenia is a temporary art radio station – a two-week exploration into current trends in sound and transmission arts.

The broadcast schedule includes a series of 20 newly commissioned radio works, live shows and pre-recorded features.

As in previous years the majority of the programme is made up from selections submitted to an international open call for sound art and radio works. That is where I came in!

Radiophrenia first began broadcasting in April 2015 with subsequent editions in 2016, 2017 & 2019. It is awesome!

“… It was a great piece…”

Barry, Radiophrenia

“The work “Memories Of A Spa Town” deconstructs what it means to listen to a DJ Set. This work is a recording of a live mix by the artist consisting of field recordings he has collected through the past eighteen months of his many years in the spa town of Harrogate, England. These recordings are presented as a living museum of faded grandeur, seen in the light of the pandemic and as a gig-going local. This is my town, as a DJ Mix; warts and all.”

Andrew Backhouse

It was pleasure to be broadcast on a station that I have been following since it started. For more on RADIOPHRENIA see www.radiophrenia.scot and check them out on Social Media. It has been the high point in a bad month – probably made my year, to be fair.
